$40.00??? Wonder how many will order?? Wonder how many will end up in the bottom of the toy box??

I have an 8 mo old child who hits her head pretty much every single time she is on the floor (its that "stage" of learning to stand/wanting to walk/not having the motor skills or strength to actually do either), and can crawl at the speed of light from the carpeted "safe" areas to the hardwood dining room floor in about 3 seconds flat.

Both of my daughters have knocked themselves unconscious falling in the most unexpected assumed 'safe' places with constant close supervision. Just today my 8 mo old was sitting on the floor between my legs (me sitting w/ my legs in a V) and she tried to stand herself up using a toy that shouldn't even be able to balance more than 1/2 inch off the floor, and in about 1/2 second, went from sitting to attempting to stand to spinning around to land flat on her head, on the carpet, hard enough to make a very resounding thud (apparently the padding is not super thick...but this is the first time its ever sounded hard)

I don't have one of those, but I have to say if someone gifted me one I would use it...maybe not in front of company, lol, but during her free range exploring, it would be nice to have a bit more safety. I try not to overreact (this is my 3rd of 3 children so I'd have a heart attack by now if I freaked out over every single thing), but my baby knocking herself out trying to hold herself up and missing a handhold scared the bejesus out of me.

I know, right?!

It actually doesn't seem like a bad product...babies falling on their heads makes me nervous.

No, but seriously, can it really do that much harm to bash a babies melon now and then? Surely its a right of passage to end up in ER for each and every one of our offspring aint it?

DONT SHOOT me.......... I dont have any bubs yet and before I left OZ for the US, I didnt want any but I would like it one day and my friends say I dont know what I am in for........... Is it really that essential to protect their heads when learning to walk? I was taught to let them fall and find their on way!

well... if letting their eyes roll into the back of their heads and having them fall limp in your arms is a risk you're willing to take, then sure~

Really not trying to be sarcastic, but if you havent btdt, its hard to explain the fear. I am fine w/ bumps and bruises, but their skulls are still meshing together for a long time during the first year (they start w/ a soft spot where their skull has not solidified/grown together over their brain).

Now that I think of it, my 13 yr old had a pretty bad fall when he was little too. I'm not saying that its not "normal" but I don't think its good to just let it happen w/out trying to minimize the damage. I am very careful about my youngest (this is a very SHORT phase thankfully) and she still gets hurt a lot. I shudder to think of what she would get herself into if I was a bit less obsessive about keeping her safe. But then, maybe not all children think they're superman like mine do.

In my almost 18 years of mothering I have never heard of a child that became permanently brain damaged due to a fall while learning how to walk. As long as they are not walking on the changing table that is...

I have much exp with evil knevil children--I had a phone call once from my neighbor telling me not to panic but my 4 year old was on the roof!!!

Proud to say we have never had a broken bone, almost lost an eye once, but their bones so far are strong!!!

omg!! lol

We havent ever had any kind of broken bones so far either even w/ a 13 yr old boy in residence but this phase still really freaks me out.
