I am a DON at a nursing home and I am going to be putting together a power point presentation for my CNA's. I really wanted to start out with something fun to help them realize how much they are appreciated. I was looking for something fun like "you know you are a CNA when..." but I couldn't find anything. Can you help me out?
Thanks
Laura
you know your a cna when you're never introduced to a new curse word, you know them all. And whenever someone raises their voice at you and gets really angry, you're able to stand back and be totally unreactive and unimpressed because it pales in comparison to what you deal with at least fifteen times a day.
You spend three hours reasonsing with someone that her husband isn't going to come and pick her up tonight and she should go to bed.
You pray for bad weather b/c then you can tell someone 'no it's snowing out we're going to stay here tonight
The resident who threatens to burn the building down..you secretly want to hand her a pack of matches to see what she'd do.
You spend 30 minutes cleaning up a pt over and over and over again because she is having explosive diarrhea and you aren't at all upset, you just wish she would hurry and get it over with already because you are so starving and you are vividly imagining yourself eating your lunch with out even being the slightest bit grossed out at the mess in front of you...:roll

LOL These are great! I just started my first CNA job at the start of this year, yet...
....the sound of a ringing cell phone makes me check my watch, reach for my phone, and begin walking briskly in the direction of the person most likely to be calling. I had my cell in my pocket earlier today (off day, yay) and it rang. I automatically glanced at my watch before realizing what I'd done.
I feel like a Pavlovian experiment I have a feeling it's only going to get worse. I've been on my own for a little over a week and I'm already having the "OMG I can't answer ALL these call lights at once!" dreams.
