Yes, the "letter" arrived....

Well, the dreaded rejection letter came yesterday from the one school I really thought I had a shot at. There were only 16 spots and hundreds of applicants for it. I was one of the few granted an actual interview. Guess I didn't make that good of an impression, with my grades (3.8 GPA), NLN scores (well above average) and the rest.

I have one interview left next week, and while I really, really like this college, it is MUCH more expensive than the tech colleges I was applying to (it will be $18K a year as a commuter student), so that is one downside. The upside is, if it is so expensive, maybe they won't have as many applicants?? Maybe??? I am fortunate enough that I will be able to make up any shortfall in financial aid, and I will have 95% of my pre-req's done if I'm accepted to the fall program.

I'm still bummed though. I'm thinking if nothing pans out that I will at least try to get into the Surgical Tech program near here, and start that way toward becoming an OR nurse.

:o Sorry... It sounds like you were very qualified, but you did say there was only 16 spots so I can only imagine how competitive that would be. It sounds like you have a good plan though, and good luck with your next interview!

I am really sorry to hear about your application. I have been there and I know how it feels. Try to just keep your chin up and do not give up! It sounds like you have worked really hard so far and you have much to be proud of.....Best of luck to you!!! :)

Maybe that wasn't the school for you. You KNOW that everything happens for a reason and it may have been a blessing that you weren't accepted into that school. Don't be dissapointed. God will place you exactly where you need to be sweetheart.

Sorry to hear that. :o I got one last week. Do whatever you can to get in. I'm applying for the LPN program, and applying for RN at another school. Go for LPN, surg tech, whatever you can now! And don't worry about the expensive school. Get all the fin. aid you can, and remember you'll be a nurse in the end!

Thank you all! I know I shouldn't worry about the expensive school (a Catholic college), but with 4 kids it is hard not too.

But in talking with the Associate Dean of Admissions there, it does sound like a great place. And being at a Catholic college would probably be great for me to get back on track spiritually. That has been hard since my mother passed away suddenly 4 months ago at the age of 61.

Whitney, where in NH are you? Sounds like maybe that college is St. Anselm's? Have you checked into Rivier College? You may still have a chance to get into St. Joe's LPN program, too. They have programs in Nashua and Keene. You CAN get in!! Let me know if you need more info.

I haven't applied to St. Anslem's. The rejection was for the Nashua Tech. There were only 16 spots, 14 of which they were filling right now, and the final 2 would be filled by summer. When I had my interview, they said "technically" I could get a rejection letter then be called for one of the final 2 spots in May or June, but I'm not hanging my hopes on being called.

I have applied to Rivier, and that's where I'm interviewing this week. It does seem somewhat promising, but I don't want to get my hopes up and then have them dashed again.

The only thing about the Keene program for LPN's is that it starts in April, which is stupid if you ask me. I'm in school full-time now through NHTI in Concord, and have 4 kids, so I have the summer to think about. I've done a lot of the pre-req's for that too, but I just can't see my older 2 kids babysitting my younger 2 all summer. Not fair to any of them, and I don't have $ for child care. So I think I may be looking into the Nashua LPN program if I don't get into Rivier.
