5 years since graduation

Published

I wanted to share my nursing experience and to give hope! A brief description: I graduated from nursing school about 5 years ago; so many obstacles happened in between but I finally sat down for NCLEX on April 6, 2016. I'm happy to say I passed on my first try!!! Never would I imagine that after 5 years I passed!!! Things I did: I purchased Hurst to refresh my memory since it's been so long since I sat in a classroom. This did help me. I loved the videos and so easy to follow. Then I purchased LaCharity: Prioritization, delegation, and assignment- this was a good buy. But the one I HIGHLY recommend and helped me the MOST is UWORLD! You guys have no idea how much this helped. A lot of the questions were similar to those on NCLEX. I recommended to READ all RATIONALES! I would do about 50-75 each day for 5 days. I tried not to over exhaust myself with doing more a day. Doing 50-75 questions and review all the rationales would take about 4hr a day for me. I did this for about 3 months. Then NCLEX came I went through the WHOLE test 265!!! When I passed 75 I noticed that I started to panic; I had to calm myself down and tell myself its been 5 years since you graduated it will be ok. I took both breaks to relax and regroup. I wish I ‘d taken a fruit to snack on because I was getting nerves and jittery. So please take a banana or some type of snack to give you fuel. I had about 10-15 select all that applies, one math and about 2 grab and drag (put in order). It focused a lot on safety, prioritization, delegation and assignment. If you cant afford any study materials I would say just get UWORLD!! Don't focus on the percentage (my was 48%). I finished the whole question bank and when I was done I only focus on the ones I got wrong. Just have faith that you CAN pass too! I am still in shock that I finally passed! Every night I prayed to St. Jude and my prayers have been answered. Lastly I will post the prayer that help me :geek:: Oh glorious apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused thee to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases--of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable; make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded thee of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (mention your request), and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise thee, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee. Amen GOOD LUCK!!!
