10 Years in a Call Center but wants to be a Nurse already

Published

Hi, I finished my Nursing Degree here in the Philippines back in 2006. After graduation until present I'm working in a call center and didn't take the Nursing Board exam here in the Philippines. I want to work as a Nurse already but I don't know where to start. If I will take the Philippine Nursing Board exam, what are your recommendations in preparation to take the local Nursing Board exam? If I will not take the local Board Exam, what will be my chances if I will apply a Nursing job outside the country?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

I would suggest getting some review and maybe update on nursing as 10 years is a long time to be out of nursing

depending on country you want to move to will depend on whether local license is required

In my opinionI think u should find a review center which provides refresher courses and has an early start of its nle review classes that will allow you to have more preparation time for the exam. Begin reading updated nursing books as early as now. Take the test only when you feel that youre ready.

If you wouldnt take the nle..hmm i honestly don't know..im not sure if your chances of landing a nursing job would be slim. Maybe try researchingthe job requirements/qualifications of the country you want to work in? :-)

Taking the NLE is the first step unless you wanted to be a caregiver or a nursing aide/ unlincensed assistive personnel/ orderly abroad.

Best to try secure your home license first because for sure they'll be asking for it if you want to go to Singapore, Middle East or UK. Otherwise if you plan to go to US, you can immediately take the Nclex.
