11 year old with constant nausea

I have an 11 year old daughter who's been dealing with constant nausea for about 6 months now. She doesn't always throw up but says she can feel the throw up in her stomach and then she'll have pain in her chest.

She's seen a pediatric Gastroenterologist who's had her do countless blood tests, an upper GI, MRI, etc. Everything is coming back ok. The upper GI showed some reflux but that's about it. They've started her on Prilosec 20mg once a day but it doesn't seem like it's making a difference. They've also prescribed Zofran for the nausea which also isn't working.

She's also having an issue with constipation, it's been going on for a couple years now.

It's so hard to watch my energetic 11 year old cry in pain and not want to do anything. It's now affecting school as she'll miss days due to the nausea.

Any thoughts on this is very much appreciated!

We can't offer medical advice per TOS but as a mother I feel your pain. I would continue to have her worked up just in case there is something going on but in the mean time I would look at other causes. Has her diet changed, does some types of foods cause her more problems than others? Is she being bullied at school?? Is she having problems socially or with a teacher?? Is there anything at home that could be stressing her out like a divorce, moving, starting a new school?? I'm not even suggesting anything is going on but from my own experience with my own daughter, she was stressed re school and she complained of stomach issues also. Just a thought, I wish you guys well and I truly hope you can get to the root cause of this.

Get copies of your results and get another opinion. There are quite a few pediatric hospitals with outstanding GI departments CHLA, CHoP, Mass General, Boston Childrens, Tufts, Rainbow, Cincinnati Childrens

I agree with second opinion and know how distressing this must be for you as Mom.
