Hi!
Just wanted to get some other people's point of view on this...I graduated nursing school in 2012. I worked as an RN for 14 months on a cardiac PCU. I got married and my husbands job transferred us to Finland. My nurse manager knew the line of work my husband was in, as we had talked several times about it (he plays pro hockey so he travels a lot). Well anyways i put in my 3 weeks notice and let my manager know that I would be moving to Finland. I left on good terms, got a great letter of reccomendation and learned a TONNNN during my first year. Now im in Finland...cant work because of the licensing and language barrier, but I am back in school (online) finishing my BSN (should be done by August). I will be back home in Feb/March and will be applying for jobs again. Do you think ill have any issues or think it will look bad that after only a little over 1 year of experience i was unemployed for 6 months? I do have the option of going back to my last job, but I want to work a different specialty. Any opinions/feedback would be great:)

WOW! Your must be so proud of your hubs - to be offered such a great opportunity.
I can't imagine anyone holding your "leave of absence" against you once they become aware of the circumstances. Envy, yes - but not resentment. Six months is a very brief time to be away from practice, and you are using this time wisely.

I agree with HouTx. While it's still tough to find a good job in general these days, most people would not look upon you too harshly. Be sure to include the basics of "your story" in your cover letter and/or in your resume so that they know it. Good experience, good reason for leaving, used time off wisely to improve your credentials.
Good luck!
thank you both for your input! i know a few of my co-workers put some thoughts in my head that maybe it will look bad on a resume to take time off after only being in practice for 1 year. Im trying to keep up on my "floor knowledge" and refreshing on things frequently. Being in school again is helping with that too. thanks again for your input, i feel better now:)
