I met with an Army medical recruiter today and was told that I could sign up for 3 years active. Is this in fact correct?

Do you mean Active Duty or the Reserves? (as your subject is "3 year commitment for AR")

If you are thinking AC, yes you would Commission in and you would be in for 3 years, unless you request to attend one of the Core Courses, then it would be total of 4 years (1 year ADSO)

Yes, it is $50,000 in student loan repayment. Which I think is a fair deal.:specs:

Yup that is a true option.. remember it's up to 50k repayment on loans... also keep in mind that there is a payment schedule and the fed tax on such a bonus is about 28%.... welcome to the forum.

Hello,

I'm in the process of applying for a commission in the USAR. I'll be starting a crna program in fall of 2010 and my primary reason for applying was to use the STRAP benefits. I have eight years prior service as enlisted. The recruiter is pushing me to take the 30k sign on bonus and the hplr. If I do this, would I be able to apply for strap in a year as a reservist? I just completed the physical yesterday. Thanks
