Yeah!! 1st IV start successful!!!

I just wanted to share a personal triumph, I started my first IV today with success on the first stick . I was so nervous :uhoh3: , but it went in so smoothly!!

We are rotated through peri-op so that we can get experience with IV starts, I hope tou all have success when your time comes!!!

Congrats! I don't think I will get an chance to do an IV during my schooling both the hospitals have their own IV teams.

Even though you have IV teams, all nurses should know how to start IV's because you may need to do it yourself one day. "Practice makes perfect", that is the only way to learn. Step up every time you have the opportunity to try. Many nurses are willing to give you tips on getting the tough ones. :p

My story is that I got the first person I ever tried. Then I proceeded to miss about the next 20. Was very frustrating. Now I'm pretty good.

i'm an ma at an endoscopy center. i work as a scrub tech and i do pt intake and recovery, and i taught medical assisting for a spell. i loved injections in school, but that the only place i've done them. i have been dying to start an iv and today one of the nurses let me start one on her...and i nailed it! yay!! bring it on!
