Just want to share I finally got a position in informatics in my company! I'll be on the ambulatory beacon team for epic :) I'm excited! Has anyone gone to epic for training? I have to go I'm not sure what to expect.... Any advice would be great!

Congratulations! I don't have any advice. But I'm curious, did you go back to school for this? This is a field I am looking to break in to and am just wondering if it's required I go back for my masters.
Thanks!

From what I have read here and seen in my MSN program, the degree doesn't guarantee a position. Most of the Nurse Informaticists in my capstone course went back for the degree after the fact.
Sorry just checking this now. No I didn't need a MSN for this but I did need 5 years of nursing experience they'd like IT experience but that's near impossible to get. And no a MSN doesn't promise a position. It's hard to get into took me 2 years, I also asks to shadow them too, and was a super user and a expert too. I'd definitely say start with a shadow gets your name and face in the department and shows your interest.

Congratulations on your job. I live near the epic headquarters. Haven't been there but my son went there for a field trip in high school and he said it was "pretty cool." I am sure that wasn't exactly what you were looking for, but apparently the way they do say to day business is pretty unique.
Lol yeah I live in Milwaukee never been up there so it'll be new for me! I've heard it's impressive

Hey my hospital is opening positions for epic...was thinking about applying .. Do you like it ? If you don't mind can I ask you the salary ?
I haven't started yet. You need to liked computer and IT, no patient care. Be ready to be sent to Madison Wisconsin multiple times for training. It's going to be different Based on location but in my area it's between 65-90k you can search the salary in your area on salary.com
Awesome ... Good luck to you !!! Thanks
