Yale's GEPN program for Fall 2008

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi, everyone! Is anyone else applying to this program? I'm applying with an ACNP focus. I thought if there are others applying to Yale (the app is due 11/1), that we could chat! :)

As I current GEPN student I can tell you that not everyone in my class has extensive research experience. One classmate has a Masters Degree in Literature!

Yale really prides themselves on having a GEPN class with diverse life experience. So if you feel like you'd like to apply to Yale, don't second guess yourself.

As far as Yale's "reputation" in the nursing field, I'm curious to hear why that matters so much. I'm confident that the education I will receive from Yale will be a strong foundation in nursing practice. And I believe HOW I practice will be much more important than WHO granted my degree.

Hey May-Baby,

Thanks for your contribution! It's great to hear from a GEPN student. Honestly, I don't know if any of the reputation stuff matters, or if it's even true. Yale is such a strong name, and the foundation of the education is really all that should matter. As I'm applying to Yale, I'm definitely not putting that much weight on it! :)

Hey you guys, this may be a dumb question, but for Yale's essay(s), are you numbering them as you go along, or are you writing this out as a formal essay, without numbered responses?

spygirl19... imo that would be a bad idea to state you do not want to be a researcher. research is part of the APN education, and is one of the areas that distinguishes between a BSN and MSN or in other words an RN and NP/CNS. by saying you don't want any research experience or that you don't care for it is to say you don't really want to be an APN.

kensington, i'm planning to just write it in essay form without the numbers...just write in that order

I'm applying for an ACNP track as well, although I haven't turned in my application yet.
