YALE GEPN 2022

Published

Hi everyone! Wanted to start this conversation for those who are getting ready to apply once the application opens on June 1st 2021.

I am hoping we can all share information, ask questions, and support each other throughout the exciting journey ahead!

Hey everyone! Does anyone know who I reach out with a question about admissions? I am graduating in May and since I got accepted into this program would like to drop a class and take a W. Before I do this, since I sent my unofficial transcript, I want to make sure it’s okay.

Is anyone worried about being able to find a job after graduating? I keep seeing stuff about how the field of NPs is so saturated (albeit a lot form forums so they’re not always reliable) and it’s making me nervous that I’m making a terrible decision or something

Hi, I am in a similar situation and want to drop Chemistry to be frugal. I emailed Jana a few days ago asking if my acceptance was dependent on me taking that course but I am a little worried I won't hear back in time.

Hey, I work with several NP’s in neurosurgery and they were just telling me about how I will always have a job and how many opportunities there are. NPs are preferred over PAs at some hospitals. from what I’m told, this is a very good decision

I emailed the general nursing admissions email. It’s on the website. They have not gotten back to me and I emailed days ago ?

Jana is no longer with YSN ? she’s still with Yale but not nursing. She suggested I reach out to admissions with any questions

Oh that's too bad. She was nice. I emailed the general admissions email address but addressed it to Jana.

Yea, I emailed the ysn admissions on the 1st and haven’t heard back so I wasn’t sure if it was the correct place to ask. Thank you

Can I get your opinion on something? So as I mentioned before, I was accepted and started taking Chemistry last week so add drop ends tomorrow and I could drop it with no blemish on my record and with a full reimbursement. I would save money and be able to take on more on call shifts at work (birth assistant). That being said, I doubt I will hear back from anyone at Yale before the add drop ends. I'm assuming it will be fine for me to drop it because Yale does not have any pre-requisites but it does say "highly recommend taking Chem" on the website. I could, were I to drop it and hear that Yale does want me to take it, take this course in May and finish it August 7th.

What do you think?

Honestly I think you’re 100% fine and they wouldn’t notice. Obviously your application was more than just “she’s taking chem”. But I see where you’re concerned.
I’m more nervous since I’ll have a W, but it will let me work much more.
I wonder if you could call the admission office?

It looks like Admitted Students Day starts at 6 am PST ?

You’re fine! If you’re already admitted, don’t worry. They never specified that admission was contingent upon completion of your in-progress classes. May as well save money and take free online courses to spruce up your Chem knowledge!
