Doesn't speak well of bedside nursing when such a large percentage of nurses will only do it to keep from starving. They say right in the article that they expect that most people that came back for economic reasons will leave as soon as economy improves. PS I know a lot of nurses that went into real estate and the mortgage industry to escape nursing. It just so happens that that is the industry that is hardest hit by the down turn.

WSJ, I can never get links to articles in that paper to work. They have two excellent articles about nursing in their Personal Journal section today. One is about how the nurse shortage tends to go away during economic downturns. The other is about how non accredited nursing schools are cheating students. Both very important topics. I am hoping someone else can post the links.
