What's HPN? My book of medical abbreviations says it stands for "home parenteral nutrition" and that isn't a medical diagnosis. I wish you guys wouldn't use abbreviations.

OK,I could be barking up the wrong tree (I have no idea what HPN means!)You mention drinking. If this person is a habitual drinker there is a well known phenomenon where a drinker will go to sleep,in a chair, with their arm over the side of the chair. This causes compression to the nerves in the armpit and,in severe cases can cause wrist drop.
