I'm really curious, would you take a cut in pay in exchange for excellent nurse/patient ratios, ensure adequate staffing, a float nurse to always cover breaks, and a safer healthcare delivery environment?

I already have a second job so I can save money and I work 60 hours a week because my pay is so low. I would just leave nursing altogether if I had to take a $3/hr pay cut. That would put me at $17/hr... no thanks.

When I read the initial post, I read it as asking if I'd take a job that paid less for less agrrevation.

Sometimes people have difficulty giving up something that they have, even if it's not necessarily they really need. I make enough that I could absorb a pay cut that is less than 10%, for less stress and aggregation. In fact, at some point in the next 10 years, that's exactly what I plan to do as I reach my retirement goals and I start getting "old".

For those focused on not wanting to give up something (and I realize some people just can't), it might be helpful to reframe the question: Would you take a job paying $3 hr more per hour but had worse ratios and worse working conditions?

No right or wrong answer here, just something to think about.
