Would you retake a C+ in AP2?

Published

Have a B- AP1, C+ AP2, and a B in Intro to Chem. Debating to retake it, program allows retake, or let it be.

I know the school I want to attend is very competitive and they mainly look at your science grades along w/Stats, Nutrition, and lifespan. If you have time to retake it and I would say go for it. The better the grades the better the chances. Just my opinion.

I would retake it but I would also get a tutor/ study buddy to help you with the material that is a bit more challenging.

Just stressing out. Really uncertain what to do. Such little time. One decision wrong can affect my entire future. If I choose one road and doesn't work out not a nurse. Choose the other road maybe a nurse. Such little time until August to figure out what to do. Brain is exploding! Be great if so simple.

Retake prerequisites or apply to other programs...Decisions Decisions.

There lies the conudrum. I can retake the course. I can retake the course with a load of Chemistry and a Precalc class (Needed not for nursing but Chem class). With that said if I do this I put a lot at risk. I am not a strong math person. With math, AP, and Chem I could risk grades in the B- or B lowering my GPA.

Now I could just retake AP2 and Lifespan forget about applying to other program's. Then I risk not being accepted into the program as they count 50% nursing GPA, 25% AP1 grade, and 25% of your TEAS score.

I can also take Chem 1 and Pre Calc jusr focus on applying to the other 2 programs at the BSN level and let the chips fall with the other 2 program's.

It causing so much areas with this decision!

Im in the same boat i have a C in ap1 and b micro ap 2. Im debating about retaking it i just got waitlisted and if i dont get a spot for fall it restarts and ill have to apply. Or apply and see where you stand just make sure you do good on hesi or teas whichever your school requires

I feel doable getting the TEAS above an 80 this year. My biggest issue is the TEAS count 25% in regards to the application. AP1 is another 25%, the average is a B+. Then 50% is your nursing GPA, which is your science classes Chem, Psych, Math, English, Micro, and so forth. Then your Nursing GPA average is 3.0 to 3.5.

I could focus just on the Associates and retake AP2. Raise my Nursing GPA and GPA. Also raise my TEAS score. Still my AP1 would be low and can risk not being accepted.

The other option as I mentioned is take Chem1 and forgo retaking AP2 to ensure I can complete Chem1 with a decent grade. That would allow me to apply to multiple program's, but also could hinder me for some program's.

I am coming to terms this is my last year of applying to nursing school's before moving on to something else.

Why are you trying to rush? Take your time and take those classes that you mentioned over 2 semesters, instead of 1. That way, you can get the best grades possible.

It depends on the program you're interested in. With my program the TEAS are weighted heavily and assigned points depending on how well/poorly you did. Taking specific college level courses adds points and increases your likelihood of getting admitted. In the program's case, retaking any A&P or Micro will deduct 2 points. C+ in a class would give me 2.5 points. If I retook the class, I'd be getting 0.5. So for my case it wouldn't be worth it.
