Would you recommend any good/organized ABSN program?

Published

I enrolled in an ABSN program, and my experience there was dreadful. The program was relatively new, spanning about 3 to 4 years, which led to a high degree of disorganization. Moreover, the ABSN program sourced its tests directly from the traditional program, without any prior review by ABSN instructors before students took them. Of course they did not accommodate their teaching based off of the test. Also, most of the instructors were part-time, which meant they didn't contribute much. We only had a one-hour Zoom session each week, where instructors barely taught. It was essentially a self-taught experience, devoid of any meaningful guidance or teaching. Furthermore, lab instructors proved to be highly unreliable, often claiming, 'I've never encountered this in my hospital work. Haven't you watched ATI videos? You should already know.' Their lab classes primarily consisted of playing YouTube videos. So I dropped out of the school.

I still want to do nursing. I have a BA degree so my best option is to go accelerated program. But, I got scarred by my past experience. So, I am wondering whether there are some good ABSN programs out there, or all ABSN programs are not much different from my past experience. If there is a good ABSN program, I don't mind relocate. For me, my education is much more important than leaving where I am right now.

If you have graduated from ABSN program and you were happy with it, could you please let me know? Thank you so much in advance.

I just got accepted to emory's MN program and have talked to past students and current students and everyone seems to love their experience there.

@nurse061401 Thank you for the reply. I know Emory is such a good school, high ranked. But I got to see this post. https://allnurses.com/do-not-go-to-emory-t753071/

I started to believe most of ABSN programs suck.... I hope I find a good school to prove me wrong.

Sorry about your experience!
I recently graduated from Grand Canyon University's ABSN program at the SLC satellite campus. I took my NCLEX in October and passed in 85 questions!

I'd recommend looking into GCU's ABSN program. I can't speak for others.
