Would you buy one?

let me try this again without breaking TOS. :)

A certain chain store has AED's for sale, for a large price (over $1000). It reports it's the only place a layperson can purchase one.

How do you feel? Would you buy one?

I was thinking- Thank goodness they talk you thru it. What if a business owner bought one but didn't have training in how to use it (but that's the purpose, huh). It does have info included about how to get further training in CPR and AED use.

My fave part- it tells you that you cannot use it on yourself. :D

ETA- Forgot to answer my own question. If they were more affordable, I think it'd be well worth it to have one in the trunk of my car, just in case. Until then, I'll thump chests.

The AED's on the market have been okayed so that any person can use it. It won't shock a beating heart. and they are made to talk you threw it. All the ones that our paramedics use here are regular defibrillators, but I would imagine some voluteers would use the AED's. If I could afford one I would buy it and keep it in the trunk of my car.

I am almost positive I have seen them for sale on Amazon.com so they are getting to be readily available!
