Hello everyone,
i am not an rpn yet but i was just wondering what are your ideas as it goes for pursuing the rn degree after completing the rpn program? im hearing alot of people saying that rns are having a hard time finding jobs, and that the rpns are replacing them. I am interested in becoming an rpn, but i just wanted to hear how you all feel about it. I would like to work one on one with patients post natal or something along those lines dealing directly with the patients and from what i put together rpns are the ones who work with them. Sorry if im rambling, what do you out there suggest?

It depends on your goals and the requirements of where you want to work. The hospital that I work in has mainly RNs in the maternity ward doing post natal care.I am an RPN and I love what I do.I have plenty of opportunities to work in different areas. If you goal is to be ina leadership or management rolw then you will want to go the RN route.

There's always going to be place for both RNs and PNs in the health care setting.

well.... speaking from years of experience as a LPN I would say it would be well worth your time and effort to become an RN, Far more job opportunities, recognition ,learning opportunities, perks, and lets not forget a way better earning potential. If I had the opportunityto do it all over again I would not waste my time with the LPN route. (no offense fellow LPNs.)Go for it!
