Hi everyone. I'm new here and need some advice. I'll be graduating this month as a BSN. I received my license in May 2009. When I passed the boards I decided to look for work, but only got one interview for an RN position, which I didn't get. So I went back to get my BSN in January 2010, and decided to just focus on school since pretty much everywhere wanted a BSN nurse. Well now I'm graduating and I'm worried that I will be overlooked because I do not have any nursing experience and I've had my license for 4 years. Is there anyone here that is in a similar situation? Any words of encouragement?

Some of the new grad position I am not even qualified for. I've been searching for a job since march and no luck yet. I need encouragement too.

Most hospitals will suggest to do a refresher course...no way around it... Healthcare has certainly changed in five years! With pts more acutely sick, increase in EBP, it would be best to get into a refresher course that has theory and lab practicum, as well as Geri-Adult coursework as well. There is one in my area that has a refresher course that includes this, including IV therapy course...it fulfills a certain amount of hours for CEUs as well. I will also suggest entering into home care as well...it can be a great place to focus on assessment, documentation, education, family-centered care (and how to handle those challenges) and advocacy. Don't give up!!! Everyone has to start somewhere!!!

Do anyone here think its good to do the refresher course online?? I've been searching here in Bay Area but the classes will start in August. I want to take the course now.
