Hi

Does anyone have any idea if an RN (NZ) can work in France if they cannot speak French?? Who do I contact if I want to a. work in France and b. look after some elderly person in her home in France?

Thanks

Frodob

You must be able to speak the language fluently to register as an RN in France. You may work in an English-speaking place but your actual registration with the French BON must be in French.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

there is a thread in the International forum that lists what is required to work in France and yes you must be able to speak fluently in the country language

Has anyone worked as a carer to a non-French person, so that they get paid in overseas (not French) currency on a visitors visa?

Without speacking fluent French I will not get my French Registration.

Wonder if English speaking clinics would employ overseas RN's as 'carers' instead- does any one know of any English speaking Clinics near Toulon or Morificeille?

Thanks

I would think with a tourist visa you shouldn't be working. Also if you are working in France then whoever you are working for would have to meet French requirements regarding being paid.

Yes, I need to apply for a working visa. If I can find an English speaking clinic in near Toulon then maybe they would want to employ me. I cannot find any on the net. Does anyone know of any?

Alternatively I could try an English magazine where they advertise carers for when they go on holiday in France.

Does anyone know the name of a good magazine where this type ofjob is advertised??

I'm french stuck in the USA and retrogression...and There is no english clinic anywhere except in Paris where there is ONE. You absolutely need to speak French. If you don't have a EU license then you need to apply to a school of nursing in France and do the program to get the French state diploma.

Good luck
