Working with a racist

What to do when working with a racist? I have told this woman I do not wish to hear her inappropriate comments anymore , yet she persists. She has said some very horrible things and when I brought this to the attention of the DON , she waved me away saying " she's one of our best nurses . What other steps could I take while maintaing my professionalism to stop this behavior?

Also, at the risk of being hypersensitive, "Cowboy Church" is the same sort of bigotry we're all deploring, here..

I'm guessing 'Cowboy Church' refers to right wing Christian conservatives (the ones liberals seem to disdain, as well as those who have beliefs similar to president Bush who happens to be from Texas as am I.)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, as I do tire of political bigotry, and sincerely hope I AM wrong... :rolleyes:
