Quite an old thread but I definitely wanted to respond since I recently started with Loyal Source. I'm a sub contractor and my employer recently got a contract with Loyal Source as compensation and pension examiners. I do have to say, I thoroughly enjoy this contract and job. This might be different if you are a solo contractor or with another contracting company, but with mine I can work as many or as little days per week as well as hours and the pay is pretty significant. Prior to having got hired by my current employer, I've seen quite a bit of listings from Loyal Source for this type of contract/position on Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn and their pay was pretty low so I think I'm pretty fortunately/lucky.
The biggest con is that you are the 3rd party when it comes with dealing with issues with your veterans and most don't know that. Scheduling is all done through the Loyal Source, so any scheduling issues that you have, which is quite often with the vets, you end up being the punching bag even though your job is literally to do your examination at the appointed time. Once in awhile, you end up having to give the veteran the run-around even though you don't mean to, but that's just how the VA system works and it upsets the veteran, but 99.9% of time they understand, it's just sad to hear their constant frustrations with the VA.
The other biggest con is that Loyal Source is pretty hard to get in contact with even though we are sub contractors working for them. They're based in Florida as far as I know so if you are in California like me, any issues you have after 2pm PST, sometimes even earlier, won't get responded to until the next day.
Other than that, the job is pretty straight forward, pay is great, and the flexibility is awesome. I hope this is one of those long lasting contracts.
