What is ASL?

"Working Girls" is slang for call girls, and may be seen as demeaning to nurses - nurses are generally women and men, not girls.

Sometimes long shifts mean that you work fewer days. For example, someone who works eight hour shifts might work five days per week, but someone who works twelve hour shifts might only work three days per week. (36+ hrs is often considered full-time.) Any hours > 40 hrs per week are usually paid as overtime, at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.

It's great that you know American Sign Language and it should definitely go on your resume, but I doubt it will get you higher pay, because the demand is very low for it in most places.

OT pay will depend on the facility.I usually work 24 hours/week, but if my employer asks me to work over on a shift, then I get time and a half pay even if I work less than 40 hrs/week (this is because I am unionized and it is written into our contract). I work 8 hours shifts. Some RNs at my work do 12 hours by contract, and they get shift diff (higher pay for pms and nocs), but not time and a half for working their normal 12 hour shift.
