working as a CNA

I saw a post from someone saying that while you are waiting to get into nursing school to work as a CNA. while you are waiting to get in, all you will have completed as far as school is you general ed. and prerequisites. Don't you have the have special training and be certified to be a CNA?

I'm not sure what state you are in, but in Illinois you can take a semester long class and then the state test and become a cna. Many people that complete the cna course, have passed the test, and work as a cna can get out of some of the nursing courses, which can make your life easier. I hope this helps:)

I live in PA and started working as an aide when I was 15. As long as you take aCNA course and pass the state test you can work as a CNA. I think now in PA you have to be at least 16 years old. Most nursing homes have classes that you can take to get certified so you won't have to pay the bill. Also most local vo-techs offer the CNA class for around $500.00

Good luck to ya!! I worked as a CNA for 18 years and am finally going to be a LPN!!
