Work?

I'm supposed to start nursing school in the fall, I was actually supposed to start last fall but my husband left me and I had to push it out a year. I am a month away from nurisng school and I don't know what to do for work through it.

I'm an LNA now, but have never worked as one and none of the hospitals want to hire me. I need the 3, 12 hour shifts.

What is everyone doing for work through school? Thanks in advanced...I'm just feeling like nursing school won't happen. :banghead:

I am an admin assistant at a pharma company, but I'd much rather be at a hospital. Check into a Unit Secretary or just anything along the "administrative" side of things...at least get your foot in the door. Then after your first semester, you can become CNA certified and do that if you wanted to!

Best of luck in your search and I hope you find something you like!

Hi,

I worked a min. of 30 hours a week all through LPN and RN school. Most of my hours were done on weekends when I was off school. No real days off for years but well worth it in the end! Good luck.

Try a nursing home. They always need help and will probably be very flexible and work with you on hours. I learned so much working in a nursing home.

i worked part-time, about 24ours a weeke as a nursing assistant in a hospital while I attended nursing school. it was great i felt like i was learning the dynamics of a nursing floor, got to work with nurses, and they were all very supportive with my nursing education. If you can do it, i would recommended it. but your studies do come first. i had to quit my 3rd semester or nurisng school because of the demanding schedule of nursing school. i worked as a ward clerk later call-in on weekends and that worked out fine.
