I recently passed my CNA exam and am currently enrolled in my second semester of prerequisites for Nursing and would like to find a job in healthcare; PRN preferably due to a heavy school schedule. Although I understand that Assisted living or Nursing home care can be an invaluable experience and is looked highly upon, what are some other types of settings I can work in with a CNA certificate?
Thanks

To list a few :
Long term Care, Assisted Living, Home Care, Rehab Facilities, Homes for the disabled, VETS Homes, Hospitals which may be called techs instead of CNAs. I am sure there are even more that someone can come up with that just are not coming to my mind right now.

I worked PRN as a CNA throughout most of my prereqs. I worked at a few SNFs, but my favorite job that I worked PRN for 2 yrs was as a 1:1 "sitter" in an acute care hospital. I could choose when I worked. Also I was able to observe and learn more about the RN role. I was also able to do homework at work. Even though the pay was lousy, Sometimes, I miss that! Another option is as a mental health technician on a PHF or long term mental health setting. Some of these positions require no certifications or education. In some settings these mental health techs take vitals, chart, and are involved in the management of non medical services the consumers need.

1. Group homes for developmentally disabled clients
2. Physical rehabilitation hospitals
3. Psychiatric hospitals
4. Prison infirmaries
5. Acute care hospitals
6. Private duty / Home health aide
7. In-home caregiver
8. Adult daycare centers
Some of these that were listed I never thought of before and/or the instructors never mentioned was an option.
Thanks everybody, I appreciate it.
