Work-Life Balance of Nurses in Case Management

Hi All,

I am new to this website. All threads I have read have been really helpful. I hope you guys can help me too. I got burnt out from my last job as Assisted Living Director. I am an RN and felt like they were using my RN title to attract customers but really what I have done was trying to staff up the company and it seemed endless. My main job was staffing, dealt with call-offs and vacation requests. If a person calls off, the company did not want to pay overtime or double time so I ended up working as a coverage. I was paid through salary so I was really working double shifts in a day without pay. Or 6o hours a week. So I quit that job and have no regrets at all.

Currently, I am looking for a job that can offer me good work-life balance. I saw Case Management positions for workers comp. Do you think I can have a balanced life if I chooses this path?

It seemed like in Nursing, bosses are really gonna utilize each Nurse unless we tell them no but if they cannot utilize us, they will get rid of us and look for someone they can. Please correct me if I am wrong but this is based on my experiences as a nurse for 8 years. My path in nursing has really been pathetic. There seemed to be no life at all if we work full time. I hope I can put an end to this and start being happy as a Nurse through case Management.

Please help!

Yes, I want to know how it worked out. I have an interview with travelers for WC case manager.

I have the best work-life balance eveeeeeeeeeeeeer in my life. I can work any hours as long is not over 40 and at home. So here you go... awesome Work/family balance but I still have to meet the quota and deadlines. So, you still need to work hard, smart and efficiently.
