Hello. I am an RN (ADN) looking into higher degree options. I want to go through WGU but am struggling with which degree. I would love to work in informatics and could do their RN to MSN option in that or get a BSN in Health Information Management and see where that gets me first. I live kind of rural and have one hospital within 20 mins of me and 3 others within an hour plus. My small community area does not seem to have a strong demand for informatics that I can find so I would love some feedback from others who have been able to work from home or do a mix up of hospital/office and home work. I am not sure if my degree will be worth it if the demand is not there.

Informatics isn't generally a work from home specialty. It is a specialty that involves a lot of hands-on teaching, both in classrooms and at the bedside, as well as a lot of special projects that require involvement in teams and lots of meetings.
In a lot of places securing an Informatics position can be very challenging. It all depends on where you live and what the demand is.
Most nursing work from home jobs are for insurance companies and don't require an advanced degree.
Thank you for clarifying. That is pretty much what I assumed.

I worked for a large insurance company and they had several informatic nurses they used as Product Owners and they all worked from home.

What do you do for the insurance company? Do you work from home?

I know three nurse informaticists in Northern California who each work for one of the three big hospital / medical group entities in our area, UCSF, Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health. They each work from home.
