Work Full Time/ Part Time LVN Student

Hello Everyone

I will be starting a part time LVN program in about 3 weeks and as time gets closer I'm questioning whether or not I'll be able to handle the work load being that I work full time. As was wondering if any of you have been or are in the same postion where you're a part time student and working full time....what kind of obstacles do you find? Do you have enough time to get work done when it comes to studying?

Any type of feedback would be great! Maybe I'm just over analyzing my situation....

I am a full time LVN student in the evenings and a full time Medical Assistant in the day. It is not easy, and wish I could lessen my work load to part time, but due to financial reasons, I am unable to do so.

I survive on 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night, study every spare minute I have, have no social life and dirt tired, but I am maintaining A's in my classes.

If you are able to not work or work part time, that is what I reccomend. The program is very intense and requires a lot of dedication. Since every student is different, you might be able to handle working full time and going to school part time. I suggest that you do what is best for you and your financial situation.

Do whatever is best for you, even if you have to test the waters out doing each. If you are able to work less and go to school more, by all means do it. I currently work 32 hours/week and I'm still not certain on how that is going to interfere with my LPN Program. While I'm doing my core classes, my workload coming from school is not such a huge problem...but once I start my actual LPN Program courses, going to class 7-3 (5) days a week, I truly can't see myself working 32-hour weeks and while school will be 40 hours weekly. For some, it's not a choice, it's what they have to do, but as Christine said, if you can...by all means lessen one or the other in which would work best in your situation.
