Hi! I am now taking LPN program, live in NY. My daughter is sick and has 24 hours of LPN services . But actually I am taking care of her, because she is in a coma, and cannot complain if something wrong. Meanwhile trying to relocate to CT, PA or NJ , because the rent is going up and we can't fit all supplies that my daughter needs . I could not get information would I be able to work with my daughter in any of these state ? Where to look for information? Thank you in advance !

If you haven't finished your LPN program and passed NCLEX PN, then no. You cannot work as an LPN.

You can be her caretaker, but not her LPN.

I am very sorry about your daughter and I hope the best for you both.

Thanks! I ment when I graduate, with LPN license, can I work then?

Ahhhhh. Well, hrm. I'm not sure. I think you may have to contact the BON in the state you finally settle on and they should be able to give you guidance.

I'm my hospital we're not allowed to take care of family members, but I think that's just their policy.

I am very sorry to hear that your daughter is in that condition. :(

Do you receive any money, from I guess Medicaid?, to take care of

your daughter? It may depend on the state you are in, but full time

caretakers can apply for funding, so that basically you would be

getting paid to be your daughter's caregiver. Now, I'm not sure

if that applies to family members or not. And I'm not sure if

there is ever a way that you can be paid as an LPN, to take

care of your own daughter.

It's all worth looking into, I suppose. Contact you local

children and family services office. Contact your BON.

Thanks. No , I don't get anything , daughter is 29 y old .

Well, I know in Kentucky for example, there is a way for a full time

caregiver to apply through, I think Medicaid, to receive money for

being a full time caregiver. It's probably not much, and it may not

apply to family members.
