Hi, just a question,
If you are in the US on a work based visa, and the employer does not come up with a "full time permanant position", do they still have to pay that person a full time wage? I have heard that this is so, but of course cannot find confirmation anywhere.
Does anyone know where I can confirm this online?

when you come to the US as a nurse, ICHP approves you for the visa because as there is a shortage of nurses in the states they will approve your application. ICHP is a division of CGFNS.
when you get your interview with the american embassy, you must have in your possession a letter of employment from a hospital, you dont get your 6 month visa from the embassy without it. after that you are either employed by an agency where you will have a contract for a set amount of hours to be worked in each week. and the contract doesnt end until you have worked all of these hours. if the hospital employs you then they will also tie you to them for a set amount of hours with a set time period.
so there is no way that they will be employing you and then not giving you the hours to work, you just wouldnt get paid for them.
full time for some is 36 hours each week and 40 or 48 for others. as for permanent positions its up to each of us to get employment after our contract ends. hospitals usually want you to stay with them as the majority of them are short staffed anyway.

There are agencies that are sponsoring nurses but are not giving them full-time work, and sometimes no work at all. This is in direct violation of what they agreed to do with immigration.
You already have your green card. They need to be turned into immigration, and you can get your contract cancelled with them. And continue on with your life. Please also notify the US Embassy in your country where you had your interview, as well as the Cunsulate or Embassy for your country in the US. It is the only way that we are going to put these companies out of business.
