Woohoo! I got in!

Nursing Students General Students

I got my acceptance letter yesterday & am so happy! I already had to postpone applying for a year because I was pregnant & didn't want to start with a newborn. Now my son is 9 months & I'm be starting the ADN program in the fall! Orientation isn't until July 22. I already have my schedule & list of things to do beforehand. Any tips to prepare for my classes?

How exciting! Congrats! I'll have to leave it to others for the tips as it's been so long since I was a new student . . .

Congratulations! One, for becoming a mother, and two, for getting accepted to nursing school! Those are both very exciting milestones. I can't make a ton of recommendations, as I am also in your shoes (beginning a nursing program this August). However, I would recommend that you get everything done around your house that will get neglected while in nursing school, i.e. cleaning, organizing, car maintenance, doctor/dentist appointments. Because there won't be as much time once you begin! Also, I'm sure you already know this - spend lots of time with your child and your family. They will miss you for the next two years ?Figure out meal plans that you can either cook and freeze to eat for dinner or that you can take to class or clinicals when you're in a rush. Make a budget plan for all the expected expenses that nursing school brings. Maybe refresh on your anatomy and physio. Oh and don't forget to relax. Good luck to you!

Thank you! We are very lucky that my boyfriend's job allows him to be off Monday-Thursday so that I can concentrate on school & family time without being overly burdened. Thank goodness I still have my A&P books too although Chem is my weak area since I never really took the class. :nailbiting:

Congrats to you as well meib!

Congrats! I start in the fall as well! SOO EXCITED!!! I am looking over my A&P info and just hanging out with my family! Good luck to you!!!

Congratulations! :)

My advice is don't get behind on any of the work, because its almost impossible to catch up if you do. I started an accelerated program in May. Its fun but really tough. Congrats on becoming a mom! I have a 1 and 2 year old too. Not getting much sleep these days but its ok :woot:
