Wondering about OC private lvn schools

i attented concorde c/o 2001. well let me say.. You get what you put into it. A lot of people who failed the program talked a lot of sh*t about it. I did the full time which was a year. I needed something fast cause I got 2 mouths to feed. Local Community College will take me 2 years to finish.Concorde is a very nice clean campus. High turn over on teachers some will leave in the middle of a term. The program is divided into 'terms' there are 4 terms. It's very very pricey when I went it was close to 17K now I think it's 24K. We started with about 40 students by the end of the term 13 originals were left. Some failed some dropped out and son on. So I've been an LVN for 3 years now, I currently work in the ER and Med/Surg I'm currently waiting for my RN-IP from Sacramento.

thanks, for the information. I too want to go for my rn after getting my lvn. would you recommend going to concorde or just going to a cc and waiting it out. i am 22 and could afford to do that right now... which concorde did you go to, i am considering the one in garden grove, ca

The only Concorde in OC is the one in Garden Grove that's the one I went to.

It's really up to you. I was told that my local city college has a 'freeze' on LVN program applications. So they are not even accepting applications to the program. Hypothethically speaking if you are willing to wait and be on the waiting list at your local CC for a year then think of it like this that year of waiting to get into the LVN program you would be done if you attended Concorde in the beginning. Concorde is pretty much exactly a year unless you fail a term then you got to repeat that failed term. I was also 22 when I started.

How are you going to pay for it? Do you have any financial drawback? Private schools do also offer loans and grants but you may still have to pay X amount of dollars a month depending to you income of 2004 (W2's). Let me know what you decide. Good Luck :)

Hi, thanks for your response. I am lucky to have supportive parents and financial help so I am going to go to concorde in July 2005. Do you have any advice or tips. What was it like? I am going to go full time so I hope that I don't get burnt out. Did you guys practice drawing eachother's blood? Did you feel confident in your skills when you graduated? Ready for NCLEX when you graduated? Sorry, i know I am asking a lot but I just want to be menatlly prepared. Thank you so much for you time!!!!! Any response will help!
