I have all the requirements for Nursing degree, but currently have a suspended licsence as an EMT. Will that show up on the criminal background check? Should I inform the institution or should I not even bother with nursing school all together?

I think you should still try. As long as you are honest about your past it should not stop you from becoming a nurse. One of my classmates had a DUI on her driving record and was still able to get her license. She got her DUI 10 years before sitting for the exam.

I'd try--the worst thing they can tell you is "No." And you have better odds than if you don't try at all :)
