Wolford October 2015

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I just got invited for an interview for Wolford October 2015 class. Anyone else interviewing in May for this class?

Hey everyone. I have an upcoming interview and very worried about accreditation. If I get in by any chance, my graduation date will be summer of 2018, and their accreditation is up may of 2018. + COA wants them to be SACs accredited as well. Just seems quite risky? how do everyone feel about this situation? Have you heard anything new from the school during interview? If there is anything anyone can share, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

For those that got in this class, what are your thoughts on the program? i've heard good things from people i know but have also read bad things online. I trust the opinions of the people i know more, but am curious about what current students feel. nothing long needed just any info! thanks ahead of time!

Echo_RN,

Wolford is a great school, I really don't understand the people who are online talking bad about the program, probably the people who don't get admitted or they get kicked out of the program (there are a few)... I also was a little skeptic at first but this is the real deal:

-The school is working really hard in getting the the regional accreditation. They are not just about the money, the people who graduate here have every chance of passing boards and getting a great job.

-School is hard. They really try to prepare you for your boards and their priority is graduating safe and competent CRNAs. So don't expect this to be a walk in the park! It is hard and they prepare you for practice.

- They have great instructors and they really try to prepare you for success.

-It is a small college so you actually have a really close relationship with the teachers and staff and everyone is awesome! There is a little disorganization at times, but nursing school was the same or worse!

-Naples is awesome! This time a year I would be freezing my ass back home and now I complain when is 60 degrees.

This is my personal opinion. I am here getting close to completing my CRNA and that is awesome! I am really happy I applied to Wolford, it may not be for everyone but it is a great fit for me and most of my classmates

ECMO RN,

I'm also a current student and thought I'd create an account and share my thoughts as well because like RenoRN07, I'm tired of seeing members getting on here and talking bad from behind the keyboard. I think many the people who are upset about 'not being taught' are those who like their education spoon fed to them and want to put in a minimal amount of work Here at Wolford, YOU are responsible for what you get out of your classes. The professors give you the information you need, but you as the student, are responsible for actually learning the concepts in depth. You do spend a lot of time going over the concepts by yourself of with classmates making sure you understand them. If at any time you don't get something, the staff is more than happy to meet with you to help you succeed. I think the people who get upset at that are just wanting to 'skate' through the program and that's not how it works.

The school has also made a bunch of changes in order to be in compliance with regards to regional accreditation. The process does take some time and it's not something you can do overnight. Anybody who thinks it can be, I invite you to actually look up the requirements and the time frame required for them on the SACS website. I feel that Wolford is making a great effort to receive regional accreditation. Many changes have been made and I'm sure more will be coming as they strive to be compliant with the requirements.

Like the previous comment said, nothing is perfect and there can be a few things here and there that don't run perfectly but please show me a school that everything goes exactly how its planned. Just think back to nursing school if you need to be reminded of how sometimes there is a little disorganization.

Overall, it's a great school. Often times the negative people are just looking for something to complain about when not everything goes their way or they want to break the rules somehow and then get caught doing it- yes they have no tolerance when you break rules and you will be dismissed immediately as some people have found out the hard way.

Let us know if you have anymore questions.

It's nice to see positive things about this school. I do hope they get regional accreditation since it's a potential back up school for me (it was one of my top schools based on location, but I put off applying because of the whole accreditation renewal thing). Has the COA visited yet??

They come in April. Hopefully they get their accreditation renewed. I started school in October 2015. When I talked to the administration about what would happen if it wasn't renewed they said they have a teach out plan for all the CRNA students that are in the program, if it came to that. In my opinion this is a great school, good teachers, good clinical locations and one of the best places to live in the country. The beaches are awesome here, my kids love it. The school district here is one of the best in florida. It's a good place to come for people with a family.
