Wolford CRNA School in Naples Pros/Cons?

Published

Does anyone have any insight/feedback for the Wolford School in Naples, FL? I think it used to be affiliated or part of Florida Gulf Coast's school, and it had some problems. Not sure of all the details. Any insight into this school would be very appreciated. Please feel free to PM me if you prefer. Thanks in advance!

What is with all of the unbalanced posts? This reminds me of nursing school. There are people who will constantly want this or that changed and will whine and whine and whine about the situation instead of sucking it up and making the best out of the situation. There is ALWAYS bs. Some people realize that and decided to try get the best education they could in the program. Any program with a lot of people, and many with a few, requires you to have to do a lot of self-educating, and a lot of proactive approaching to clinical work. Some people want it fed to them. That's not life. If people want to name the Pro's and Con's that's fine to me. But be balanced. There are always two sides. You guys really need to think that what you put on this site stays here forever and whenever you put Wolford in the post it will be one of the first things people see when they google it.

Bottom line: This forum is meant to inform, not for you to vent because you thought it would be different. There is no perfect school. This is a newly organized school (on it's own that is) and it will take time. People know that coming in. So just make the best of it! Do you know how to work as a CRNA and can you pass the boards? That should be your focus.

Hmmmm....This forum is not run from communist China and venting is normal and healthy for SRNAs, here or in other similar public forums. It is interesting that you have taken the time to post this same message to any thread in these forums that has said anything bad about this school, and that you seem to be very passionate and specific about defending the institution and defining the function of this forum ....admirable for a student about to enter the program with no direct knowledge of whether information posted here might even be a milde representation, and for a member fo the forum for less than 30 days. I am not cynical enough to wonder aloud whether you are a prospective student...or a staff member.....oops.

that's an excellent point, except the venting stays on here forever, and actually gives no useful information. The people on here are trying to get unbiased info and help in making school decisions. You should do the best you can with a situation and not take out your venting onto an internet forum. It's only destructive, and serves no purpose. Here's an idea.. try to make the situation better instead of stewing in your anger.

I am a recent wolford grad. The fact is all the blogs on this and other sites are true; the good and the bad. So what if it stays forever it needs to!!! The same anesthesia group owns and operates wolford now that ran all the other programs. Same group, same primary site, same problems. They have "let go" several well respected honored school administrators( who continue to be great leaders of our association) due to ethical differences. Barry U and Gulf coast U also severed ties due to ethical vs financial disagreements. Why would a group of anesthesiologist be producing so many SRNA's? were all adults! figure it out.$$! I think the education is solid they need for us to pass our exams. If that's where you want to go suck it up and go youll be fine. Unfortunately I think they are training us to function at the level of AA's not CRNA's Im sure the ASA loves wolford! Once you graduate hopefully you will be fortunate enough to be mentored by a great group of strong CRNA's like I was.

Very interesting, Wolford is a popular topic! I submitted my app there for 2009 and all this talk is making me weirded out! I have major issues with ethics and greed! It's disheartening to know that many students of Wolford have had negative feelings or experiences. I definitely want to be able to function independently once I graduate. This is a majorly important decision.

Anyone have an opinion!:banghead:

Thank you for providing the forum with some actual useful insight. Congrats on your recent graduation too!:yeah:

I wonder who elected foraneman the speaker of truth about a school he knows nothing about, or why he is even on this thread.

As for me, I am impressed so far. I'm done with this forum rumor-mill stuff. Most happy students aren't gonna waste their time on these things anyway. Just make decisions for yourselves. Wolford is only one of 3 independent anesthesia schools in the country (not attached to a university), is about to be only one of three with an anesthesia doctorate program, and has a pass rate in the mid 90's on the Certification exam. The school really seems to care, and has said more than one time already that if you need more practice in a certain area during clinicals, to ask and they will accomodate you. I don't know what else people want. Like I said, this will be my last post. This info just is not accurate. Most people are just venting students. Very biased, or random CRNA's stopping by to say your input is useless. Oh well... Look for yourselves... Don't trust internet posts for your future. Later.. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

I am glad you have so much passion. Just keep in mind your passion should be for the profession you are pursuing. The AANA didnt become a great leader with strong influence by having a "polly-anna" veiw of the other professions. You are learning to be a CRNA not how to assist an anesthesiologist. The CRNAs are your mentors and should be your teachers. I agree with you that there are a couple school administrators using this forum in the wrong way. However it is also very important that SRNAs and CRNAs alike be ever vigilant to make sure our profession is being taught properly; not just technically, but also that the future CRNAs are going to uphold the same professionalism and self confidence that has gained us the respect and recognition we currently enjoy. We are known for taking excellent care of our pts. with or without supervision and we dont want to lose that. So I for one appreciate having a few watch dogs keeping an eye on the student forum.

GOOD LUCK! Make us proud!

I just got accepted to Wolford. I am very happy to be part of the school. I have known many graduates and students of the school. They nothing else to say, but good things about it. Some people are just eventing their frustration. I shadowed a CRNA that graduated from the school. He was so thrilled about the school. His experience was excellent. He likes the fact that he was not competing with medical students to get a spot in the OR. I did my homework before I applied to the school. I would love to know in more details about these angry students. I enjoyed reading the posts on this forum and learn from different people. Good luck to everyone. Anyone starting in Jan 09? Let me know.
