  1. the state of fl is graduating over 300 anesthesia students a year. Do the math. CRNAs in Fl are currently experiencing cuts in benefits, call pay, and base salaries are slowing going down, also cuts in hours and overtime. Students are frequently used instead of CRNA's.
  2. does anyone know what money is paid to who when srnas are placed in the hospital operating room. Ive heard lots of theories but no one seems to know for sure. Does the hospital pay a fee per student? Does the anesthesia group pay per student? Or does the school pay a clinical fee to the hospital or to the group. Or traditionally is no money involved. I realize there are variations. But what is the usual occurence.?
  3. I am glad you have so much passion. Just keep in mind your passion should be for the profession you are pursuing. The AANA didnt become a great leader with strong influence by having a "polly-anna" veiw of the other professions. You are learning to be a CRNA not how to assist an anesthesiologist. The CRNAs are your mentors and should be your teachers. I agree with you that there are a couple school administrators using this forum in the wrong way. However it is also very important that SRNAs and CRNAs alike be ever vigilant to make sure our profession is being taught properly; not just technically, but also that the future CRNAs are going to uphold the same professionalism and self confidence that has gained us the respect and recognition we currently enjoy. We are known for taking excellent care of our pts. with or without supervision and we dont want to lose that. So I for one appreciate having a few watch dogs keeping an eye on the student forum. GOOD LUCK! Make us proud! Sleeper64
