Anyone else apply for February 2016 start date?
I am another student here at Wolford, and another satisfied student.
If you look at other schools faculty, you will see that having a podiatrist, pharmacist, chiropractor, etc is very common. Anatomy is anatomy and physiology is physiology, no matter who teaches it.
We as a school don't need you, and we as a profession don't need your attitude. You are only a couple weeks into the program. Quit if you are unimpressed. Obviously you didn't do your homework on the school, and I would venture a guess that you are already behind the ball on your studies.
Furthermore, you are an idiot (a term that I rarely use, especially since I don't actually know you), did you think through any of your comments? Do you think that your comments will engender you to your fellow students, not to mention your future preceptors, the staff here, or your future cohorts in the profession? Then again, with your demonstrated lack of foresight, that's not surprising.

Wow! I would not want to be classmates with you!

Because I called somebody out for being foolish? I am not the disgruntled one. Taylor is certainly entitled to speak her mind, but complaining two weeks into the course about instructors, the sim lab (which first semester students don't use until much later in the term), is foolish and idiotic. If she did not do her homework on the school, she gets here and really decides that all her dreams and hopes for an easy, turbulence free ride through anesthesia school isn't panning out, her correct course of action is to leave. No harm, no foul. However, defaming my school is not only counter productive to her immediate and long term future, it is to mine as well. Our profession- nurses as a whole and nurse anesthetists- does not need the type of backstabbing, counterproductive displays of disenfranchisement displayed by Taylor. Speaking of things you don't know, and have only barely begun to experience is not just ill-conceived, it is idiotic. I worked hard to get here, and I am working even harder to stay here, I did my homework and knew exactly what I was stepping into; it is offensive to me that Taylor not only did not do her homework and did not know what she was stepping into, but that she sees fit to rant and rave two weeks into her experience. If she would have instead reached out and asked for help, I would be among the first in line to provide any hep (meager though it may be) to her.
Thank you for posting this mmbackpacker! I am sick of reading negative posts. Suck it up, work hard and stop complaining! Don't go to nurse anesthesia school if you can't hack it.

(I think you mean Turner)
I couldn't have said it better myself. As nurses, we need to stick together joining and supporting our respective groups like AANA. If we truly want to advance our profession as nurses we must band together. Bickering and squabbling over nonsense, insulting a program with little to no evidence, shameful.
I'll give you it to you Turner, you are allowed your opinion but please respect the work of your fellow nurses. The way we as nurse anesthetists advance our scope is by not acting like the MD's who try to undercut us and prevent nursing progress.
BTW Turner joined AN a week ago, anyone who reads his/her post, consider the lack of credibility. If you are truly interested in Wolford feel free to PM me or any of the other Wolford students for more information.
As a future applicant of this facility I am wondering when i can find out if they have received their visit and their subsequent decision on regional accreditation? i would truly hate to turn down multiple schools to attend one that is not going to be accredited and have to shut down. I enjoyed talking to the staff there and truly believe they are working toward achieving that accreditation to keep the doors open. I am not the smartest or most experienced icu nurse around or person in generally but I will work hard to achieve my goals and dreams of becoming a crna and i believe with the academic structure in place there I can become successful. I am looking to completing my application in april of this year so in a month.
As a future applicant of this facility I am wondering when i can find out if they have received their visit and their subsequent decision on regional accreditationLet me try to explain what I understand because I find that most people are a little confused about how it all works and the time it takes with regards to regional accreditation. Disclaimer: This is just MY opinion as I have researched it and come to my own conclusions.
Yes, the COA is coming in April. We all know that schools must now be regionally accredited as of last year in order to continue being accredited by the COA. Yes, Wolford currently does not have regional accreditation. Have they made substantial changes in order to receive it? From my experience of being here the answer is yes.
Here's what I find that a lot of people misunderstand and don't understand why they just cant go out and get it to say yes, we now have regional accreditation. Regional accreditation takes time to get. It's not something that can be done in a few months. If you do a little research about the SACS accreditation process, once a school has turned in an application, SACS has 6 months for a initial response to the school in order to basically acknowledge that they have received the application. Once you even want to turn in an application, there is a meeting that you must attend to even be eligible to turn one in. You also must meet core requirements and prove that you do to even have your application considered. After your application is turned in, SACS has 6 months to even respond to it and either agree that you are in compliance or communicate with you on the things that you still need to do in order to meet the core requirements. Once core requirements are met, SACS then has an 18 month time frame to actually come out and visit the school so the school can be considered an 'applicant' school. In a nutshell right there, you're looking at a two year period before they will even perform an onsite visit if it takes the max time allotted by the SACS agency to do things.
With regards to the COA visit in April, I'm fairly confident that they are aware of this time frame that it can potentially take with regards to getting regionally accredited. I'm almost fairly confident that they may even communicate with each other about this with regards to particular schools and use that info in their decisions.
So, in a nutshell, it takes time to get regional accreditation. Looking over the core requirements, I can say from my experience here at Wolford, that it appears that they are compliant with them. Having turned in the application, they are now in a waiting period as outlined before. When the COA comes to visit, they can see that they are in the process of obtaining regional accreditation and they are also aware of the time it takes with regards to getting that. There's a lot of communication between Wolford and the COA that goes on behind the scenes that is not seen and I'm very confident that the COA knows their spot right now and will use that as they look to their continued accreditation.
Sorry for the novel, I hope it helps. Once again, this is all just my opinion after having researched it out and reading many documents on the SACS website with regards to how long it can take.
Your applying for February 2017? The COA is coming in April of this year, they should know accreditation status prior to interviews. As of right now it appears that they are working really hard on getting that accreditation, they are getting all new equipment for the SIM Lab, and restructuring classes to meet all requirements.

I personally know the guys that are speaking on behalf of Wolford. I have been here a while, though I am not very active per-say I have been a member longer.
Likewise I am a student at Wolford. Turner is entitled to his/her opinion, but IT IS ONE PERSONS OPINION.
I'm a student at Wolford I interviewed at two other schools and chose Wolford.
Turner, just because you are stressed with being a new student in your first few weeks does NOT mean the program sucks. Maybe you should study more
