Hi....Michael here
Dear Suzanne...I'd read all your advice in this forum, and it seems to be informative and useful. Thanks for replying to all future nurses here...the healthcare force thx u a lot!
I just wanna know something about NURSING here...
I will be transferring (*65 credit hours) to U.S soon in Spring 2006...I've got a list of Nursing Schools that'll I'll be applying for, UAB in Alabama is one of my priorities.I'll be doin my Junior Year there.
I'm a sophomore...still during pre-reqs before junior year in my home college in Malaysia. (I'm still in Malaysia now). I'm not a registered nurse yet in my country...I'll take the NCLEX exams in the states to get the RN.
I'm clueless about what to expect in the future after graduating with a BSN and taking the NCLEX Exam.My plan is that I just want to work in the U.S and becoming a Nurse. I think it'll be great....WHAT do you think?
Please help me here...thx :)
After graduating with a BSN in UAB, what's next? What are the basic procedures to apply for work as a Nurse in the U.S?
Will hospitals employs BSN-RN fresh international graduates like me...but I'm an International student...so what Must I do?
Finally, is it true that to work as a nurse in the U.S after college graduation, do you need a GREEN CARD to be able to work in a hospital...or only a H-1B Visa will be enough for the job as a nurse?
Thank you so much....appreciate for your reply A.S.A.P!

nurses get green card not H1b
depends on the hospital to whether they are willing to petion a foreign nurse
best of luck
Dear Silver Dragon...
Mike here again...thx for your reply!
You mean that if I would to graduate from a university with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing and having to complete the NCLEX Exam, I still need an employer to petition for me a GREEN CARD to work as a nurse but H-1B?
Did the laws of immigration changed?
What are the chances of a hospital hiring an international nursing undergrad and petition a Green Card for me?
Thanks

You are going to be a USA graduate since you are transfering your credits over here and you are going to graduate over here. No H1-B for you but green card because nurses are special over here. I am just like you, graduated in December 2005 going through immigration proces. I am about to start my work on Monday 26 September, I received my employment authorization a week ago. Hospitals will petition for you regardless of experience. Since you are comming to finish up your education over here, you won't have much problem.

Temporary work permits are no longer available, plus they have the same requirements as the green card. So why take a position where your salary would not be the same as the American nurse that you are working with, plus you belong to the facility then. You should be in control of what you do.
