St. Joseph - Marshfield Critical Care Internship

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Hi All,

Are there any past or current Critical Care interns that are willing to share their experience during their time at St. Joseph's Hospital? Any thoughts about Marshfield itself as a place to live?

Thanks,

Scott

*** Play up your ties to the community. They are looking for people who have a reason to stay in the area.

Good luck and I will see you if you get hired!.

Feeling kinda down. One of the requirements is a GPA of 3.0 (cumulative). Not sure if I will be accepted. With my associates degree, I graduated with a 2.97. I am currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program and with my old GPA rolled over and with the summer classes I took I have a GPA of 3.0. I have an email into HR asking what GPA they will look at. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hopefully as long as you have the 3.0 you should be fine!

sorry about that I meant "PMFB-RN"

Has anyone applied for this program for the January 2014 term?

I'm very interested in applying for the July 2015 cohort at St. Joseph's hospital in Marshfield, WI. I really want to work in critical care, well actually, I really want to work in this program specifically. Does anyone have any suggestions on things I could do to increase my chance of acceptance? Perhaps someone on this site knows when the application will be due for this particular cohort. My background is a medic in the military, and I will graduate in April with my ADN. Upon graduation I hope to start on my BSN and start working in this residency. All suggestions appreciated!

Apply for SICU. Second choice would be MICU. Really emphasize your ties to the community. Make it sound as if you would never dream of leaving St. Joe's or Marshfield. Tell them your parents and family all live there and it home for you.

The BSN is good, but adamantly deny any interested in grad school. Especially CRNA school.

No better place I know to get experience and learn to be a critical care nurse. It is absolutely true that if you can work there you can work anywhere. You will be shocked at the level or responsibility and autonomy you will get there. The residency is VERY high quality training. Crappy place to work. Nurses not treated with respect, pay is low, benefits suck.

Come up with some good answers for the "why do you want to work here" question. Any mention of grad school is the kiss of death. Don't mention their recently expired Magnet status. Its a bit of a sore point there.

I have the opportunity to do an internship this Spring with my school for 8 weeks where they place us in a hospital. I would love to do my internship in the ICU at St. Joseph's. Would you happen to know anyone there that would be willing to train a student a few days a week for 8 weeks? I feel like it would be a great way to boost my chance of obtaining a spot in the residency program.

PMFB-RN. I'm a week out on sending in my application for the nurse residency program? I'm not able to PM you, but would you be willing to look over my application and let me know what you think?
