Wireless headsets????

the cnas at my hospital are on the phone pretty much all day -- either on their cellphones or at the nurse's desk. :o i've always been of the understanding that cellphones in an icu were prohibited -- it was like that in washington state when i lived there. here in the other washington, they wear their cellphones with belt clips on their scrubs and will stop any activity to take a call. even the rns keep their cellphones in their pockets and take calls right at the patient's bedside. i thought that was bad, but today i noticed one of the cnas with really thick, wavy hair wearing a wireless headset. it was barely visible undneath her hair, and i probably wouldn't have noticed it had i not noticed her "talking to herself" all day. am i just old fashioned and uptight? or does anyone else see a problem with this?

I think that work is work. unless people are on the phone for work related activities. (there are always emergencies... but how many can there be?)

I am very agaist using cell phones at work for your personal lives.

I don't see a problem with one or two SHORT phone calls. However, if someone has a problem with phone call first, pt. second......that's a major problem!!!!

Wow - you think you've heard it all and then you hear about something like this......

Work is work....but obviously not everyone in the world shares that idea :) Can you imagine how the patients feel or their family feels while their nurse or CNA is standing over their bed on a cell phone call????

If people want to gab on the phone all day, then they need to GO HOME. A headset doesn't make it any more right to take personal calls while at work. And i think it's a disservice to the pts, not to mention just plain selfish and rude.
