Don't know if ya'll have seen this, but it's really good. I work in a Title I school and most of my kids walk to school (up to a mile).

YES! Like the thread last week, parents are quick to judge the decisions when schools are closed (or open for that matter). I have 488 kids in my K-3 school. I am in MA and it has been freezing the past two days (-15 yesterday with wind). About 2/3 of the students did not have hats or mittens, and there were a handful who did not have coats

I know it sounds silly too, but even here in Houston. It gets too cold, and since our city isn't equipped for colder temps, we close down, even our school. 97% of my students are financially struggling, and some don't have coats, I am not going to make them stand in the cold.

we're a walking district too. I see a lot of kids in the same hoodies all day long and try to discuss with them about at the very least dressing in layers so that they have a warm layer to wear when they go home.
On the other hand, I have had to argue with my daughter about wearing her heavy coat every icy day this week. I got to the point where i stopped arguing and just let her wear the fleece jacket she wanted to wear.

Yup! Saw a gaggle of middle school boys walking to school this morning in my district where I live and they were wearing hoodies, shorts and those basketball legging things ?

Okay what's up with that? My kids are the same way! It's like 33 here and I'm freezing my butt off, so I wear my long sleeve under my scrubs, my fleece sweater, my coat, gloves and scarf. My kids? "It's not that cold Aunt Amethya!" and they wear just one... freaking... hoodie....!
Is there a science response on why we adults get cold super easily, but as kids were were always warm? I was like that in middle school and high school too! I wasn't cold, one sweater warmed me up!
