I was recently given a ticket for careless driving. From when my wheel came clean off my car and I lost control of my vehicle.
From what I understand and have researched careless driving and reckless driving are not the same. But i'm still pretty scared of how this ticket will affect my future nursing career.
Should I get an attorney to fight the ticket?
Will I not be able to be a nurse because of this if I just pay the ticket?
Help!

I know of one person who was not able to be licensed because of a reckless driving ticket that had not been taken care of. The fine ballooned and it went to collections. Because of the runaround between the collection agency and the authority responsible for the ticket, the Board closed the file before the person could get the matter resolved. Whatever the outcome, I strongly urge you to take care of the ticket immediately. You don't want to set yourself up for problems that will cost you a lot more than the original ticket.

I don't think BON cares about traffic tickets...as long as they are handled. I have some speeding tickets and a careless driving (I was driving with directions on my steering wheel) ticket. I put them on my one application for my license just in case. I didn't have any problems with getting my license. I've been an RN since July and I started my first nursing job in August. Hope this helps.
