Currently 6 months, 3 months off probation. I've been applying to all hospital med-surg floors, I dont know how new grads are getting it ( though I am 8 months post-graduation). I have ACLS, PALS. My rehab facility hangs picc-line meds, iv meds, wound vacs, among a giant ( gruealling med-pass).
I'm just worried I am ruining my chances of getting in the hospital floor.

Sub-acute experience shouldn't hinder you, but your short tenure at your job will.

Yes! I put in hundreds of applications for acute care positions during my last semester of nursing school and in the months after graduating. I think my resume was weaker because I didn't have any relevant work experience (never a CNA, no student nurse externship).
Anyway, I got the first SNF job I applied for. Stayed 13 months, and then got the first med-surg job I applied to (one of the same ones I was rejected for as a new grad with no experience). Stayed in that job 9 months, then cross-trained into the OR at the same hospital and stayed there 2 years. Then I switched to primary care, where I've been for the last 1.5 years. I plan to stay with my current company for at least 4-5 years to balance out the job hopping in the early days. I like what I do now so much more than acute or sub-acute care.
I don't regret my SNF start at all. Didn't love the work, but I got really good at assessments, wound care, PICC and IV management, time management, and efficient med passes -- all the things you mentioned in your post. I'm glad I had the chance to get good at 'conventional' RN work in the SNF setting, so I know that just because I hate it doesn't mean I can't do it. I don't think you need to be afraid of job-hopping at this point -- you're just trying to find your niche. You gotta take any open door you can get.
thank you so much for helping me out @rn&run
