I AM STARTING MY LPN PROGRAM NEXT MONTH AND WAS WONDERING IF A LAPTOP WILL BE USEFUL TO ME OR A WASTE OF MONEY, AS I HAVE A DESK TOP:typing. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU USED THAT WAS REALLY A BIG HELP? THANKS

I never brought my laptop to class...

BUT, I feel like I spent a ton of time on my laptop outside of class. So, if you like to study at the library and like everything on your computer at your fingertips, then it would be a good idea. Otherwise, I would just get one of those flashdrives and take with with you to school in case you need your documents saved on your desktop and you need to open them on a school computer. :twocents:

Thank you so much. Thats a good idea the flash drive. How do you or how did youorganize your time and notes in school? Any helpful hints to get me thru? I start out new in april for lpn clinicals. Thank you

i want to get a laptop. a lot of people say they didnt take it to class, but i can tell you im hella unorganized, well not really, just stuyding wise. my handwriting gets horrible taking notes, and i frankly just want to use one. so im getting a laptop and a flash drive and ill take it to school with me. especially like the post above me stated if you wanted to study in the library before or after class. i think its beneficial.

I wish i could just realize what needs to be wrote down. Ill be trying to write word for word like i did for my pre reqs. Talk about messy. Ive also thought about a tape recorder. My instructor said they were fine with her when i went to orientation, so thats a idea. Are you doing your clinicals now? Hows it going? Thanks for your reply

girl no. im not even in a program yet im waiting on letters. but i just know that once i start taking notes. my hand starts to hurt and it gets hella sloppy. and i want to be neat and organzied rather than what i was during my prereqs. i was thinking about a recorder, but im a visual and kinestethic learner. so listening to a lecture again might not help me retain info, but i still might get it in case i didnt pay as much attention in lecture due to various reasons. but if im listening to it, trust im gonna write and type stuff down. what program did you apply to. where are you located.

Hi. Im in the lpn program in lagrange ga. Im really excited, except for the nursing math. I am noooooo good at it and it makes me nervous. If i can get thru drug cal ill be fine. Good luck to you on your letter. I really was surprised i got one as they only choose 20 every six months. But hey im in and ill keep you posted. Where are you at and what are you taking?

im in dallas texas. im currently not taking anything. ive finished all of my prereqs. i applied to 4 bsn programs and 1 adn program. so i hope one of them accepts me. so have you decided on if you will get a laptop

I think i will because my desk top is older than dirt. Its really time to update. My nephew lives in san antonio. Ill be visiting him this summer when i get a break from school. Well im sure youll get in. Are all the schools you applied for in dallas? Im going to do the adn after this. I really needed to start out slow. I really needed to boost my confidence as ive heard all the horror stories of how hard it is. When are letters coming out?

Everyone should own a computer. I take my laptop to school but it isn't out except in lectures. I sweet talk the professor into floating me the Powerpoint presentations and such.

Other than that, not necessary except at home for papers and other homework.
