Will Kaplan help me to pass my Nclex?

Published

Hello all!

So I've been using Kaplan to prepare for my boards which is scheduled for the end of the month. I've been doing about 300 questions per day and have done every question and am not stopping until I do many more! My scores on the QBank have gone up from 40s and 50s to 70s, 80s, and 90s (Even 100 once). Only once have I recently scored poorly at 50%. Is this a good indicator that I should be ready to take my test? I have about three weeks left before it comes! Also, what kind of scores were you getting on Kaplan Qbank and were you successful in passing the NCLEX PN? Were the Kaplan questions easier or harder than the NCLEX??

Thank you kindly!!!'

Best,

Vanessa

I suggest you use as many sources as you can because everything tests different. You want a variety because that's how NCLEX is. I graduated in June and recently passed the boards. Here's how I studied... 1/2 way through the program I started studying on my iPhone with the NCLEX-PN Mastery app. After graduation, I used Virtual-ATI and NCSBN, which were both provided by my school. I also used Kaplan and Saunders books. I studied 4-6hrs./day for 2 months and passed the NCLEX with just 85q. Best of luck to you!

Hello,

I personally think that the Kaplan qbanks greatly mirrored what was on the real exam. I took the exam for RN not PN, but I am sure that it would be similar in mirroring Kaplan. I do however, suggest that you use other sources and do not focus on getting too caught up in the scoring of Kaplan trainers etc. I think Saunders is a good way of recognizing content and I also thought that Mary Ann Hogans comprehensive review book for PN is a great source as well. Good luck!!

Absolutely yes, but in conjunction with other stuff like

1) PDA by lacharity

2) Hurst (audio review)

3) NCSBN 21 day course.

Which reviews do you think is better or best in your opinions?

1) PDA by lacharity

2) Hurst

3) NCSBN 21 day course.

4) Kaplan

5) D&D Educators *new so far i heard great things on it

So hard deciding which one, they are all expensive at this point i don't care cost. Just want something to help me and motivate me more..... and help me remember.?

Hey doll

The higher scores could be redundancy from taking the same questions from 1 source. Another suggestion is to read more on the topic from your favorite nclex text book, not just the outline content book from kaplan. This ensures you fully understand the topic especially the ones you got wrong. I prepared for the RN and took the NCSBN and was able to compare it to some of the kaplan question, sometimes they had very similar topics but would ask them in a different way. If you get use to just one way you may be caught off guard.Overall I thought NCSBN questions were harder.

Edit:

On another note...no review course will make you pass the nclex...it all has to do with overall experience gained in school, how you initially understood the topic in addition to what you put into your studies. Nclex could ask you question from topics on your first day of nursing school and anything in between. I know people who passed without doing any review.

Update I did pass my boards!!!!
