Are you clear on the meaning of the word "merit"?

The rest of your question can only be answered by, "It depends." What did you do, in what setting, and what corrective action was required?

Every place I've ever worked, getting any kind of official corrective action during the year meant you weren't eligible for a merit-based salary increase that year. As GrnTea notes, that's kinda implied by the term "merit increase." Different employers have different policies about how long a reprimand or other corrective action stays in your file.

LOL. Fess up Idaa, we're all friends here!

Let's see; I have been written up probably twice a year, since 96. I'm that special problem child who management seems to love dearly. I also get plenty of positive write ups from patients and their families, so I figure it keeps the scales balanced in my favor. I have never, ever not gotten a raise, and I have even received bonuses for favorable reviews by patients/families. So it really depends on the policy of the facility you work for. But, come on, spill the beans! And whatever you did, DONT DO IT AGAIN!

I never had write ups and always received positive comments from management ,drs and staff.This is something never happen again.Thank you all for good words.

And also my manager said if it was some other hospital i could get fired.I got lucky and thank you all for your support.Now I beleive having a job is better than getting fired
