Will a more expensive stethoscope ease ear pain?

Published

To me, stethoscopes, as least the cheaper one I have, feels like someone is driving a stick as hard as they can into my ears. Will more expensive models ease that? Any such thing as a headphone version?

Thanks.

I think so! The cheap ones I always used in school always had the hard plastic earpieces. My Littmann has the softer earpieces and I am much more comfortable with it than the others

absolutely. I would recommend a Littman. Even the less expensive Littmans have the soft, pliable ear pieces. They also let you hear things so much better than the cheaper ones. I have a Littman Cardiology III, and I love it

thanks guys,,,now that you pointed it out,, mine does have small hardshell ear pieces.

i bought a littman and the ear piece is so comfy! I love itt... it's around $80

I have a littmann cardiology III and had the ear pain issue too. I got the small sizr earpieces and finally, no more pain. Try them.

I've heard of people buying the Littmann ear tips (you can get them separately) and putting them on their cheap scopes. Supposedly it works well and the difference is night/day.
