Will a bad test score ruin my grade in anatonmy?

Hello, so I made a previous thread where I was worried about failing my first lab exam. Now I got my grade, and it's a 57. Should I withdrawl from anatomy and retake it again next semester? A 57 is pretty bad. On my written exam I got an 88 and I've been studying at least six hours a day for this upcoming exam but I still feel like the 57 is going to leave a big scar no matter what.

I think it depends on how your instructor calculates your grade. For example, all of my tests for A&P 2 are worth 80% of my grade. Assignments and other activities are worth the remaining 20%. I skimmed over your previous thread but from what you said, it sounds like you didn’t take as much time to study as was needed. Depending on how the grading works in your class and if this was your first exam, I think you could definitely bring your grade up. An 88 on the written test is great! I don’t know when your withdrawal date is but I would try to take the next lab exam and see how you do. If you still aren’t doing well, then maybe it is time to consider withdrawing from the class and trying another semester.

Last semester during BI232 (A&P2) I failed (52%) my first quiz. This really affected my grade but by the end of the term I was able to still finish with 90.0%. It really depends on you. If you are someone who usually scores in the 90 - 100% on tests and midterms then you can probably pull it back. If you generally get 75-89% on the tests then you may have a hard time bringing the grade up past a B.

Yeah, I really didn't take the time but I also didn't have the time cause of my full time job. I only had weekend time to study. I switched to a different job in my company and am working part time now and now I feel like I'm on top of everything so I'm hoping it isn't too late and if I enslave myself to this class and bump up my test average to a B. Honestly, I feel really torn up over the 57.

I'm hoping I can bump up my total like you did. I think I'm going to see how this exam goes on Tuesday and if I get an A, I'll feel more hopeful.

I hope you didn’t take what I said about not spending enough time studying as snark--I promise I didn’t mean it that way. :) I just meant that you have already identified what the issue is and can work on it for the next exam.

I know a 57 is tough to swallow, but don’t continue to beat yourself up over it. I really think if this is your first lab exam that you will be able to bring your grade up. And like I said previously, an 88 on the written exam is great!

No, I didn't take it the wrong way! :) It was my mistake to take a full time job and try to juggle everything else with anatomy lol I bit off more than I could chew. It's so tough not to beat myself up over the 57 and the sinking feeling I have is going to torture me until I know I have hope. It's awful :(

Not necessarily. It depends on how many exams you have and how much each are weighed towards your final grade. if you have a few more to go, I think you still have a good shot at passing the course that is if you do well from now on. Anatomy is one of the courses where you need to put in extra time to read and study. you need to let it soak in and to also understand what's going on.if you put in your real true efforts and do really study and get the material I think you will do fine. also if you need help with anything, feel confused, ask the professor ASAP. the info builds up and your don't want to be behind because you don't understand something.

good luck in anatomy

Use your syllabus. Mine has the grading methods on there and I can use it to calculate where I stand for all my classes, not just A&p. My teacher works off of points so I add up all the total points I've gotten and add up all the points I could have gotten and divide them. If your teacher works off percentages your syllabus should tell you how they are weighted. My class has their next exam on Thursday and everyone is using that grade to determine whether they will stay or drop the class as a W
